Leaf Bouquet: Inspired by Nature

I’m always inspired by nature. I’m amazed at how the tiniest of seeds can create the most beautiful bouquet in the garden or yard. There is so much texture and pattern in so many things around us, every time I walk through the garden I see something different.

Leaf Bouquet, inspired by nature, prompted me to create this original piece. I just love the colors and patterns. I really had no plan when I started to draw this out it just developed as I started putting pen to paper. Fans, followers and collectors of my work have helped to make Leaf Bouquet my most popular piece to date.

Santos Cage Doll: The Garden Fairy

The Garden Fairy is #2 in my Santos Cage Doll Series. She stands approximately 7 1/2 inches tall. The doll is laser cut from high-quality eco-friendly 3mm wood fiberboard by PaperWhimsy. I've only recently discovered them and so far I'm in love with the products I've received from them.

I used wood, faux gems, acrylic, napkins, metal dragonflies hanging from her wings(the wings I already had on hand and did not come with the kit), metal flowers, and I also added a hand-made paper clay ring dish in her cage. This dish is easily removable and this little Garden Fairy will keep your rings, earrings or small crystals safe until you need them again.

You can order the blank kit at PaperWhimsy I used for this cage doll. Also these are made to order and can take 14-21 business days.

Thanks bunches for taking the time to have a look. Feel free to post, pin, tweet, share :)

Santos Cage Doll: The Butterfly Queen

I've been doing some research on creating art dolls and Santos Cage Dolls in particular. I've always had a love for them but just recently learned that the Santos dolls take their name from the Spanish word for Saint. While learning more about their history I fell deeper in love with them.

This first Santos Cage Doll titled , 'The Butterfly Queen' is #1 in a collection of art dolls I'm hoping to be creating. I'm not sure how many will be created, the size, the medium, etc it's all a work in progress. This is a new path, which as an artist is one of my many creative paths I (we) tend to be navigating and learning from all at the same time. I hope you enjoy this first 6 3/8 inch tall art doll. I used wood, faux gems, washi tape, acrylic, napkins, & silver metal butterflies she holds in her hands. Thanks bunches for taking the time to have a look. Feel free to post, pin, tweet, share :)
See this piece up close in the shop and purchase here.

Around The World Through Art

I'm taking a couple online classes this year to work on skills, techniques and see how they apply or not apply to my own style of creating. I love trying new things I learn from others and putting my own twist on them. As in these 2 pieces from the first lesson taught by Robin Mead in Around The World Through Art hosted by Olga Furman .

It's a great way to 'travel' the world and make new friends along the way and the talented teachers Olga has lined up for us is beyond fantastic! You can sign up and learn more on the website and when you do sign up send me a message or comment below on this post that you did so I can say HI ! I hope to 'see' you in class! :)
